Thomas Pitts: Musical Director
Name: Thomas Pitts
Position: Musical Director
Date joined: 1998
Previous bands: Grange Moor Brass Band, Knottingley Silver Band
Favourite piece of music: In Pursuit Of Happiness by The Divine Comedy.
Best Banding Moment: I just love creating and playing music.
Player History: I began playing the violin aged 8 at primary school in Leeds, having tried to play a few different instruments (clarinet, cornet and recorder at least). However, blowing wasn’t really my thing and I much preferred the stringed instruments. Throughout high school, I dabbled with guitar and piano, becoming relatively good at them. I play percussion for Grange Moor Brass Band after being persuaded to join after they needed someone to hit things at the back. That has lead to me playing in brass band contest with both Grange Moor and Knottingley Silver Band where I have had a decent set of results on stage.
Interesting fact: I have only ever had one percussion lesson in my life.
