Cameron Black, Tuba
Cameron joined the band in September 2012 on Tuba after he returned to playing from a 10-year break – his wife surprised him with a tuba for his birthday and he joined us.
Starting out on trumpet when he was about 10, Cameron moved on to the tuba when he realised it was more fun at the back! He has previously played for the Maltings Concert Band in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
A civil servant and ordained Dudeist Priest, Cameron enjoys playing in Dartmouth Park in Morley – he loves that it is the band’s local park and there is always a large turnout! However, his ultimate musical ambition is to play alongside his Dad in the Selkirk Silver Band during the Common Riding in his birth place of Selkirk.
Cameron’s favourite piece is The Wee Macgregor (Highland Patrol) by H. G. Amers.
